Our File Conversion product, FileMerlin™ and our Instant Online Conversion Service both convert to and from practically all versions of Microsoft Word. If you have only a few files to convert, you may use the Instant Online Conversion Service which costs only about $1 per file converted. However, if you have a lot of files to be converted, or if you want extensive control and customization over the conversion, you should use FileMerlin™. Converting to WordFileMerlin™ converts from other programs and file formats to all versions of Word from Word 97 to Word 2007. Besides converting to Word .DOC files, it can also convert to RTF (Rich Text Format) and Microsoft Office XML. So it really gives you three different mechanisms for converting to Word. Most users convert directly to the Word .DOC format, but this added flexibility is definitely something to also keep in mind. FileMerlin™ is uniquely feature-rich when it comes to MS Word conversions, rendering it extremely useful in a wide variety of conversion scenarios. If converting to a version of Word earlier than 97, you should use WordPort™. Though an older product and not as powerful or feature-rich as FileMerlin™, it is specially useful if you need to "downgrade" current version documents to earlier Word versions.  Converting from Word
FileMerlin™ converts from practically any PC version of Word you are likely to run into, including Word for Dos, Word for Windows 3.x, and all versions through the latest Word 2007. It converts not only documents saved in .DOC format, but also RTF (Rich Text Format) files, Office 2002 or higher XML files as well as the latest .DOCX/.DOCM file formats used by Word 2007. This actually gives you multiple options and conversion paths for converting Word documents, which can be handy for particularly demanding conversion requirements. Word's built-in import/export filtersAlthough Microsoft Word includes several import/export filters, there are many situations where the advantages offered by FileMerlin™ render it the better choice. For example: Bulk conversion. With FileMerlin™, you can literally convert thousands of files in one operation. Unlike the built-in filters, you don't have to do it a file at a time. Customized conversions. FileMerlin™ lets you tailor the conversions to what you need. You don't need MS Word to do the conversion. In some situations, for example on Web servers, the Word program may not be available to perform a conversion, or its use may be impractical for various reasons.
