Last-Resort Text Recovery FileMerlin™ accurately converts from a very wide range of file formats. In addition, it also has the option to recover whatever text is possible from corrupted or unknown files. This is meant to be a last-resort option, when all else fails. If you select Last-Resort Text Recovery as an input format option, FileMerlin™ extracts anything and everything in the source document that "looks like" text, and writes it out to a clean text file. However, editing and touching up of the converted file may sometimes be required. Possible discrepancies are: - Random characters interspersed between blocks of valid text
- Blocks of text not in the correct sequence
- Deleted text may show up
- Text that does not use ANSI or ASCII coding may not be extracted
In spite of these limitations, this option is still very useful when it is the only alternative. It is often easier to extract and clean up the text, than to retype a corrupted document all over again. Click here, or any link under FileMerlin™ on the left, for more details about this product. |
