Types of LicensesStandard Single-user Multi-user Network Developer License AutoServe License Site License OEM License Summary
| Types of Software LicensesYou can select the nature of your software license depending on the needs and size of your organization. Standard Single-user LicenseThis is the most common license. This license provides you the retail software, but does not include API functionality (i.e., the capability to call our conversion DLLs from programs that you write). For each license purchased, the software may be installed on one machine at any given time. The software may be moved to a different machine if uninstalled from the first one. If installed on a file server, only one client may use it at a time. If multiple users need to use this single installed copy simultaneously, please see Multi-user Network License below. AutoServe functionality (i.e., use of the software to provide automated services) is not permitted. If such functionality is desired, please see AutoServe License below.
Multi-user Network LicenseThis license makes sense in a small networked office environment, where the software is installed on one common file server, and one or more users access and use this same software, possibly concurrently. This license provides you the retail software, but does not include API functionality (i.e., the capability to call our conversion DLLs from programs that you write). For each license purchased, you may install the software on one file server. Multiple clients networked to this server may use the software simultaneously, up to the purchased authorized-user limit. For example, one 5-user license lets you install the software on one single file server, and up to 5 users networked to this file server may use the software simultaneously. The license limits only the number of concurrent users. The total number of networked users does not matter. AutoServe functionality (i.e., use of the software to provide automated services) is not permitted. If such functionality is desired, please see AutoServe License below.
Developer LicenseThis license is for software developers and programmers who wish to include our conversion technology as a single-instantiation conversion engine into applications that they develop. It provides API functionality, i.e., lets your programs call our conversion DLLs through our documented API. One developer license entitles you to incorporate our technology into a program for private single-user use on one single machine. For each license purchased, the software may be installed on one machine at any given time. The software may be moved to a different machine if uninstalled from the first one. If installed on a file server, only one client may use it at a time. If it is possible for multiple users to use this single installed copy simultaneously, as many developer licenses as maximum concurrent users must be purchased. AutoServe functionality (i.e., use of the software to provide automated services) is not permitted. If such functionality is desired, please see AutoServe License below. Simultanoues multiple instantiations of the conversion engine are not supported. If such capability is desired, please see AutoServe License below. Distribution of the software is not permitted. If distribution is desired, please see Site License or OEM License below.
AutoServe LicenseThis is like the developer license described above, but is meant for automated usage environments that provide automated services. Compared to the developer license, this license supports heavier conversion loads by supporting multiple instantiations of the conversion engine on the same machine. Examples are installation on web servers (internet or intranet), on auxilliary machines supporting such servers, or on file conversion servers. You may use the software's built-in autoserve features, or have your server-side or support program call our conversion DLLs through our documented API. One license entitles you to use on one single machine. Multiple simultaneous instantiations of the conversion engine on that one machine are supported, and simultaneous servicing of multiple users from that one machine is permitted. This license does not entitle you to distribute our software nor your users to download our software.
Site LicenseThis license lets you install copies of our software on multiple stand-alone or networked machines within your organisation up to the purchased site license limit, which specifies the total number of users potentially supported by the license. It generally makes sense if you want to support 25 or more users. Depending on your requirements, you may license with or without the API functionality. Click here for more details and pricing. OEM LicenseThis license is for software developers and producers who wish to include our software technology into their own product which may then be distributed. It provides API functionality to your product (i.e., lets your product call our conversion DLLs through our documented API), but our software is transparent to the eventual user. If licensed for internal distribution within an organization, pricing is based on the total number of users potentially supported by the license. Please contact us for details. If licensed for general distribution in the open market, depending on the price point and quantity of distribution, various arrangements are possible including royalty-based and royalty-free licensing. Please contact us for details.
Summary of LicensesThe following table summarizes the functionalities provided by the different licenses. | License | Includes API | Multiple Concurrent Users | Permits AutoServe | Permits Distribution | | Standard SingleUser | No | No | No | No | | Multi-user Network | No | Yes | No | No | | Developer | Yes | [1] | No | No | | AutoServe | Yes | [2] | Yes | No | | Site license | [3] | Yes | No | [4] | | OEM (internal distribution) | Yes | Yes | [5] | [4] | | OEM (open market distribution) | Yes | Yes | [5] | Yes |
Notes in table: [1]: As many developer licenses must be purchased as maximum concurrent users. [2]: An AutoServe license services multiple users, but the software runs on one single machine. [3]: Site licenses may be purchased with or without API. [4]: Distribution permitted within licensee organization only. [5]: As agreed upon at time of signing OEM license. | |
